Four survivors take refuge in a shopping mall, fending off hoards of approaching zombies in this classic 70′s horror movie. How well does it hold up after all these years?
Age of Empires 3 (PC)
This is obviously the third Age of Empires game based on the fact that it is called Age of Empires 3. I have played all three of the games, and will start off by saying that I liked this better than Age of Empires 1, but didn’t like it as much as Age of Empires 2. In the first game the story took place in the ancient world up through the early middle ages. In the second game the story was focused around the medieval period into the renaissance period. Excuse any fuzziness about those two games as I played the first game 9 or ten years ago and the second game about 7 years ago. Now onto the current rendition.
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
You probably thinking to yourself… What the hell is this idiot going to say about a movie that is credited with popularizing the idea of zombies? Well it might be a difficult battle, but here goes:
A Night at the Roxbury (1998)
The movie follows two brothers, Steve (Will Ferrel) and Doug (Chris Kattan), as they try to get into The Roxbury, an exclusive night club. Along the way they have a series of funny moments while trying to resolve the completely stupid story along the way. The movie is really just a series of scenes patched together with a virtually nonexistent storyline and in this the movie shows its root…
I Am Legend (2007)
This is a really hard movie to give an honest review of. Here is the quick breakdown: this is a remake of an original movie based on a book. Wow that is confusing so here are some more details; “I Am Legend” is a remake of “The Last Man on Earth” staring Vincent Price that was based on the book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. Now for a bit of disclosure; I have never seen “The Last Man on Earth” or read the novel, and generally am a fan of Will Smith. So now that you know where I’m coming from…on to the review.
Waiting (2005)
Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes of your local Applebees or Fridays? Well this film might provide some insight as to why your waitress is on the war-path and also provide a solid comedy at the same time. The film in a nutshell follows Mitch (John Daley) on his first day at work at Shenaniganz. Shenaniganz may be a made up restaurant, but from the opening shots of the restaurant it will remind you of every Fridays / Applebees / Bonanza / random chain restaurant that you have ever been in.
Evolution (2001)
David Duchovny and Orlando Jones are two college professors at a small town community college. Then one day a meteor strikes near the college which starts the film. Now you may say what makes this meteor so special? Well it was carrying some extraterrestrial life on it that evolves very quickly. Now for the remainder of the movie and the review you must try not remember anything that you ever learned about biology or evolution because none of it applies.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
What is there really to say about this movie…If you have never seen this movie you are in for one hell of a treat! If you have never seen a Tarantino film before then you maybe in for a horrifying experience that will scar you for some time. The basic premise of the movie is pretty simple; you follow four separate stories that are all interwoven. The bulk of the movie focuses around three main characters: Butch the boxer (Bruce Willis) and Vincent (John Travolta) & Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) the two hired thugs.
Portal (PC)
This is probably a game that many of you have heard of, but have no idea what it is. Well first off its made by Valve who made the Halflife game series. They don’t make too many games, but everything they have ever made sold a few million copies. The game itself is normally thrown in with some of the bigger packs of Halflife most notable the Orange Box collection. There is probably three things that you have heard about the game: 1. Its short (real short), 2. its cheap, and 3. it is fantastic. Now onto the game itself.
Mirror Mirror by Gregory Maguire
I really wanted to like this book, but sadly did not. I have heard such great things about Gregory Maguire and his now famous book “Wicked.” So I was at Barnes and Noble and they had both “Wicked” and “Mirror Mirror” on sale so I would like yeah I’ll give them a whirl.
